This is a presentation of our Mediaschool. Our school is a little bit different, but here we will explain how we work. We hope that you will be inspired, and maybe your school will start to work in a similar way. We think that this is a very good and fun way of working.
At our school the meaning with the mediawork
is to integrate as many school subjects as possible in the same project. If we are working on science project, we can present the result as a radio program, a newspaper article or a film clip. We also get different tasks like teaching in an other class. Four girls from the 8:th grade had lessons about water and "Blue Wave" in the 5:th grade. The children also wrote a message in a bottle and gave it to the sailor in the project "Blue Wave".
These kind of projects makes the schoolwork fun
and the pupils want to learn more.We work a lot with different projects as "Agenda 21", "Blue Wave" and " Operation dagsverket". We also draw and print our own calendar which we sell. Then we send the money to different schools in Latvia. With this money they buy school material. Last year we also collected clothes to a Children’s home.
In our school we have a studio with all the equipment we need
for editing our films and record our radio programs. The studio was completed in the springterm of ‘95. To complete the studio we got economic support from the local government. Earlier, we collected the money for the equipment we needed ourselves.
With this presentation we have shown how our school works.
Maybe you have collected some ideas to develop further on.
Good luck with your work !
