Children living in the street
Class 6b Kolbäcksskolan in Umeå Sweden has worked with children in the street.
We have read and written about them.
Our teacher has read about a boy whose namn is José.
He lives in Brazil. We have also seen movies about children in the street.
One lesson we played a game.
Our teacher had written the word poor on 16 pieces of papers and rich on 7.
We made a lottery draw. The 16 poor had to sit on the floor in a corner
and chare one single piece of cake and 2 dl of juice.
The rich sat at a nice table, with a beatiful tablecloth, glasses and
lots of pieces of cakes and lemonades.
We thougth it was very unfair, and som it is in reality.
The poor people in the world get little, and the rich so much.

There are three groups of children in the street
1. Family suporters
2. Vargants
3. Abandoned
"Family suporters" are children who live with their families.
They are children who work for the family´s support.
Some of the children both work and go to school.
"Vargants" For "vargants" the street is their home.
Even if they have some sort of family they don´t meet very often.
Most of them are forced to join some kind of gang and have to learn how to live,
how to get food and how to get protecion in the street.
"Abandoned" The abandoned children have no parents and live totaly on the
condition of the street.
3% of the world´s children in the street are abandoned.

Children in the street
are killed because people, the authority
and the police are ashamed of them.
Businessmen want the dirty children away and appoint people to kill them.
The police use the children to steal for them.
When the children grow older the police fear that the children
are going to reveal that the police has utilized them.
There is even racism behind the murders because
most of the killed children are black.

Thoughts
Children in the street should
they should have hospital care
they should have clothes
Almost all children in the street
don´t have what we have
Lillian, Gabriella
There shouldn´t be
any children in the street
Why must they
live a bad life,
and we a good?
If everbody could help
it wouldn´t be like this.
Jonas
I wish
I could help
all poor children
but I can´t
It´s better to help
one child than not
to help anyone.

How to help children living in the street
We can help the children in the street who live in Brazil by writing
our names on protest lists which are about children in the street.
They have the right to live and have a good life.
Then we send a protestlist to the Brazilian goverment.
People can send money to different funds.
We in our class send 5 swedish crowns every
month to two children who live in India.
For the money they can go to school.
It would be good if man classes helped one or two children.

Children´s rights
-All children have the right to live
-All children are the same independant of the colour of their skin
-All children have the right to be well cared of no matter what their skincolours is
-All children have the right to go to school
-All children have the right to have a family and to feel safety
-All children have the right to have a name and nationality
Children shoulden´t have to live in the street or to starv
but still there are millions of children who live in the street
and don´t have a good life.

Children in the street
There are millions children in the street, twelve
times as many as the population of Sweden.
Fifty millions live in big citys in Latinamerica.
Twelve millions are in Brazil.
There are many in Nairobi, Addis Abeba, Bankok, Manila etc.
They work only to be able to survive.
They shine shoes, sell newspapers, candies, chewing-gums,
wash cars and carry things for the rich people etc.
They go begging and stealing to survive.
They seldom go to school.
They sniff petrol or shoesglue to forget reality.
Children in the street are murdered.
"The gang is their security".
Children in the street are fantastic, ingenious,
strong, brave and experts on how to survive.
They are humans with feelings, thoughts and dreams.

Poverty makes them to children in the street
Poverty and the unjust distribution of the recources in the world
make the difference between the rich and the poor is growing.
It´s the poverty that force the children to live in the street.
